Regarding an installed VSTi and Kontakt 5 vs. I do know, that at least some VSTis issued for Kontakt 5, actually work for the Kontakt 5 Player, but the player closes, and all settings you made to the VSTis open in it, are lost, that is, not saved, after fifteen minutes. Hopefully someone who owns the product, can chime in with more concise information. Just so it comes out clear, I don't own Kontakt 5, though I've come pretty close to finally getting it.

How about the full version though? Would suck to buy it for a lot of money and then be locked out of using a new VST that requires a later version.

The last paragraph is crucial information, as I wouldn't want to miss out on any features that a VST has just because I would use a free version.
By that, I mean options that come from Kontakt, not the VSTi itself directly. There may be some options in Kontakt 5, not present in the free player. If a VSTi is licensed to work with the free Kontakt Player, I'd think you can access all the menus it has, and Kontakt 5 full wouldn't add anything. It worked before, and maybe it works in Ableton 9 Live, which has more features than the Lite version.

I had trouble getting it into Ableton 9 Live Lite, and I read that some update from Native Instruments took out the possibility to embed Kontakt 5 virtual instruments into Ableton 9 Live Lite. I can use the free player in Reaper, works fine. The player got a new icon, of course there must have been other changes, but it helped me remember there was an update! I've gotten a few updates, and the last one was not many months ago. There are free updates available for the free Kontakt 5 player. But what does this mean exactly? If a VST was licensed for the free player, can I access all the configuration menus that the piano VST has or not? Also, the free player doesn't have as many configuration options. All I want to know is this, can you use the Free Player as a VST in a DAW to record midis with it? I remember someone saying that the player can't record midi. Is there anything piano related that they could possibly put into Komplete 12 that would make it worth the wait?Īlso, I have done a bunch of searches about the difference between the Kontakt Full Version and the Free Player.
